Why do tires eat? Feb,07 2025
A: Tire eating refers to abnormal wear of tires. There are many reasons for tire eating, and the phenomenon of tire eating varies.

1. Generally, there are many reasons:

1) There are problems with the installation or adjustment of the suspension;

2) Some parts of the suspension have quality problems or are damaged, and the suspension will change during driving after adjustment;

3) The left and right asymmetry of the upper and lower support plates when welding the axle;

4) Steel rim quality problems;

5) Air path quality problems. Braking is not synchronized, the brakes are locked too quickly, etc., which may cause partial tire eating of a single tire;

6) The center of gravity of the whole vehicle is unevenly distributed, causing uneven force on the tires and tire eating. This situation also includes uneven force on the tires caused by too large a difference in leaf spring stiffness;

7) The center line of the whole vehicle is offset, and the vehicle has a zigzag walking situation during driving, causing wear on both sides of the tire.

2. Reasons related to the axle:

1) Tire eating caused by axle bending, this type of tire eating is mainly on the inner side of the inner tire. If the axle bends forward or backward, the outer tire may be more seriously damaged.

2) The brake shoe and camshaft are not properly returned;

3) The brake drum is out of round, causing the tire to stay in the same position every time the brake is applied and wear quickly.
